A 33-year-old Hutchinson woman charged with two counts of felony theft was bound over for trial Tuesday.
Courtney Smith who is well known to law enforcement is alleged to have convinced two different elderly women to let her into their homes of false pretenses, then stole from both. In one case, she allegedly stole the woman’s jewelry after she asked to use the rest room. That allegedly occurred on October 17, of last year.
Then on October 22nd, she is alleged to have done it again to another victim, this time stealing 80-dollars cash from the elderly victim.
In both cases, the amount was under a thousand dollars which would normally mean misdemeanor charges, but Smith has two or more priors for theft making the charges felonies.
She will be arraigned on the charges early next month.
