As expected, Reno County Commissioners selected a new chairman and vice chairman for the next year.
Commissioner James Schlickau was selected to be the new Chairman and Brad Dillon will be the Vice-Chairman. Dan Deming has been the chair over the past year. He was allowed to finish Tuesday’s meeting as chair meaning James Schlickau will take over at the next meeting.
Also Tuesday, the commission agreed to give the Reno County Historical Society matching funds to restore some windows at the Reno County Museum. The county is giving 12-thousand, 500-dollars to the historical society now that they matched that amount. In fact, they actually surpassed it, raising 13-thousand, 632-dollars. That’s on top of a 3-thousand dollar Carey grant they already had.
The commissioners also agreed to purchase some information software for the IT Department at a cost of more then 67-thousand dollars.
As for providing security for the NCAA Golf Tourney coming to Prairie Dunes in May, the cost to the county would be minimal and would consist of one paid officer working at the tournament at a cost of around 67-hundred dollars. The officer would need to be there from around 7 a-m, to 9 p-m, each day. The commission didn’t take action on this item Tuesday, but will come up for a vote next Tuesday.
