HUTCHINSON, Kan. — In advance of the Independence Day holiday, which is expected to break records for the number of travelers hitting the roadways, average gas prices in Kansas continue their steady decline this summer.
This week’s statewide average of $2.07 per gallon is four cents lower than last week at this time. Average gas prices in Kansas are 19 cents cheaper than the national average of $2.26.
Here in Hutchinson, gas prices remain under $2 with most stations at $1.91. But, has been the case since the Love’s Travel Plaza opened, prices across the river are cheaper. Both Kwik Shops in that city have a price of $1.87 per gallon, while the price at Love’s is at $1.85.
This week’s Kansas cities with the state’s gas price extremes are Hill City, Hope and St. Francis at $2.30 per gallon, according to Triple A Kansas. The lowest prices are in the town of Gas, Kansas, and Iola at a $1.87, however those prices match or are higher then those in South Hutchinson.
