A Hutchinson man accused of second degree murder saw his trial continued to a later date. The trial for Isaac Devante Beltran had been scheduled to begin Monday.
He faces also faces a charge of criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was arrested as a result of the shooting death of 26-year-old Dustin Brooks in the alley behind the home where Beltran lived 203 North Cleveland, on October 31, 2012.
Brooks suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and died after emergency surgery failed at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
No new trial date was announced.
Beltran was on 18-months community corrections on an 11-month sentence for a conviction for case that goes back to December 29, of 2010. The Kansas Court of Appeals recently upheld his sentence in that case.
