Cases involving stalking and other crimes stacking up for Hutch man
HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 50-year-old Hutchinson man with three cases already filed against him was arrested again over the weekend.
With the latest arrest, Scott Devault is jailed for suspicion of violating a protection from stalking order, stalking and harassment of the victim by telephone.
The three other cases against Devault allegedly involve the same victim.
One of the cases goes back to June 5 where he’s charged with three counts of stalking and one count of violation of a protection from stalking order.
The next case goes back to July 11. In this case, he’s charged with burglary, stalking and violation of protection from abuse order.
And in the third case from July 23, Devault is charged with stalking and violation of the stalking order.
His bond in the new case is set at $5,250, however, his bonds in the other cases were revoked, making the bonds total $35,250.
His request for a bond reduction was denied by Judge Joe McCarville.
Haven-area teen granted community corrections in sexual exploitation case
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — An 18-year-old rural Haven man was sentenced Monday on a single count of sexual exploitation of a child.
Trenton Knepp was convicted of showing nude photos of his ex-girlfriend to others after the two broke up. The girl told Haven Police that she was coerced into sending him the photos through her cell phone.
He was granted three years community corrections with an underlying sentence of two years, eight months in prison.
Hutch man arrested in aggravated assault case
HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A 20-year-old Hutchinson man made a first court appearance Monday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Dakota Joy is alleged to have gone to a home in the 500 block of Grandview and came at the house yelling at one of the occupants. He was holding a knife at the time. The intended victim, 19-year-old Zane Mountain, told police that he felt threatened by Joy.
This occurred around 8 a.m. Friday. He was jailed on a $5,000 bond, however during a first appearance, his bond was lowered to $2,500.
He should be back in court next Monday for the formal reading of charges.
