HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Local firefighters responded to the 2900 Block of Cedar Ridge for a grass fire Wednesday afternoon. When the arrived, they found a one acre fire in heavy brush between two homes.
The fire took 10 minutes to control, with units remaining on scene for about an hour.
The cause of the fire was juveniles lighting off fireworks. No one was injured in the fire, which was reported around 4:40 p.m.
They remind residents that there is extremely dry grass and brush in the area and any type of fire will grow extremely quickly.
