The Hutchinson and Reno County unemployment rates dropped some in the month of June according to the latest numbers released by the Kansas Department of Labor.
The numbers show the rate for Hutchinson at 6.7% in June compared to 7 % in May, and matches the same rate as in June of last year. There were 1-thousand, 392 residents looking for work last month in the city.
In the county, the unemployment rate is at 5.5%, down from 5.7% in May, but slightly higher then June of last year when the rate was at 5.4%. There were 1-thousand, 874 residents looking for work in June, but most of those looking were in the city of Hutchinson.
Neighboring counties either saw slight decreases, or stayed at the same rate as in May.
The rates for June in Harvey County, McPherson and Kingman Counties is 5.3%. Pratt County’s rate is 4.3%, Rice County at 4.5% and Stafford County at 4.8%. Sedgwick County had the highest rate at 6.8%.
The non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the state was unchanged from last month at 5.8 % and down from 6 % one year ago. The adjusted unemployment rate was 5.8 %, up from 5.7 % in May 2013 and the same as in June 2012.
