2 Hutchinson residents indicted in counterfeit money case

WICHITA, Kan. – Five area people have been indicted by the feds over the passing of counterfeit money.

30-year-old Alyssa Dennebohm and 22-year-old Keith Dannebohm, both of Hutchinson, are charged in the case. 47-year-old John P. Stark and 24-year-old Deona L. McNutt of Great Bend are also charged with counterfeiting $100 bills. In the same case, 30-year Justin E. Herren of Great Bend is charged with one count of passing two $100 bills.

In addition, Stark is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm following a felony conviction and three counts of making counterfeit bills.

If convicted, the defendants face a maximum penalty of 10 years and a fine up to $250,000 on the firearm’s charge, and a maximum penalty of 20 years and a fine up to $250,000 on each of the other counts.

The U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security investigated the case, according to the indictment.
