WASHINGTON, D.C. — Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell has announced $36.3 million in Affordable Care Act funding to more than 1,000 health centers – including 15 in Kansas – to recognize quality improvement achievements and invest in ongoing quality improvement activities.
The health centers receiving awards are leaders in areas such as chronic disease management, preventive care and the use of electronic health records to report quality data.
Kansas health centers and the amount of their awards are:
• Center for Health and Wellness, Wichita, $4,414.
• Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, Pittsburg, $24,542.
• Shawnee County, Topeka, $38,552.
• First Care Clinic, Hays, $20,149.
• Flint Hills Community Health Center, Emporia, $27,267.
• Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Topeka, $7,505.
• Health Ministries Clinic, Newton, $6,512.
• Health Partnership Clinic of Johnson County, Olathe, $22,320.
• Heart of Kansas Family Health Care, Great Bend, $38,712.
• Heartland Medical Clinic, Lawrence, $13,076.
• Hunter Health Clinic, Wichita, $29,071.
• Konza Prairie Community Health Center, Junction City, $51,143.
• Prairiestar Health Center, Hutchinson, $26,736.
• Salina Health Education Foundation, Salina, $9,838.
• United Methodist Western Kansas Mexican-American Ministries, Garden City, $20,421.
“This funding rewards health centers that have a proven track record in clinical quality improvement, which translates to better patient care, and it allows them to expand and improve their systems and infrastructure to bring the highest quality primary care services to the communities they serve,” Secretary Burwell said.
Nearly 1,300 HRSA-supported health centers operate more than 9,200 service delivery sites that provide care to nearly 22 million patients in every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Pacific Basin.
