HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The County Commission approved the appointment of Daniel Garber with Garber Surveying to serve as the reviewer of the Mervis Railcar addition plat due to a conflict with the current county surveyor. That surveyor apparently works for the company that is doing the plat. Garber will only serve in that capacity for this project only.
They also agreed to dissolve the sewer district in the Cottonwood Hills addition because of the area being under new ownership. The district was set up with an understanding from the previous owner to construct sanitary sewer improvements to serve the area at an expense through private financing. That never happened of course and the area in question is now under new ownership.
County Administrator Gary Meagher also went over the Mortgage Registration Tax and Recording fee for the month of November.
It shows the county collected $39,391 for the Mortgage Registration Tax, which is over a thousand dollars more than in October. However, the Recording Fee was less in November than in October. The county collected $9,181 in November, a drop of $2,664 from the amount collected in October.
So far, the county has collected $794,274. That’s more than the same period last year when the county collected $684,439, a difference of $109,835.
