HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A proposed expansion at Wesley Towers Retirement Community will be one of the major agenda items to be considered by the Hutchinson City Council on Tuesday.
Wesley Towers is proposing a $22 million renovation and expansion to its campus at 700 Monterey Place. Members will be before the Council asking for the city to adopt a resolution to issue health care facility Improvement Bonds for the project.
According to a letter sent to the City Council by Wesley Towers, the proposed project will include the renovation of the Thorne and Hester Care Center facilities, and the acquisition of additional land for the construction of additional assisted living facilities and a recreation center along with other improvements. The planning for the project is expected to take about a year with construction work being completed in phases over a two to four year period.
Currently, Wesley Towers provides a 130 bed nursing facility, 112 residential apartments, 52 duplex units and 18 heritage homes for elderly residents.
The matter comes up for action during tomorrow’s City Council meeting starting at 9 a.m. in the Hutchinson city building.
