HUTCHINSON, Kan. — International EarthCache Day 2014 is Sunday, Oct. 12. Geocachers will be set up at Strataca from 1 – 2:30 p.m. Everyone is invited — new and experienced cachers.
EarthCaches are places where people can learn about a unique geological feature and see how the planet has been shaped. Because there is no container to find in the end, but cachers instead gather information, EarthCaches are allowed in places traditional geocaches are not.
An underground visit is not necessary to complete this EarthCache. You will need to make a visit inside the visitor center to get the answers necessary for the log. If you would like to go underground, please call 620.662.1425 for tour reservations.
Mine safety regulations prevent children under four from going underground, but all ages can participate in the EarthCache.
Strataca, including the visitor center, is open from 1-5 on Sunday. The last tour goes underground at 3 p.m.
