HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The fundraiser for the airplane that was left stranded at the Hutchinson airport went well.unnamed (21)

According to Peter Miller of the Hutchinson Airport, the bubble bath for the A-26 Invader last weekend netted about $4,500. Participants were urged to donate $10 to help give the aircraft a bath after it was sprayed with oil from one of its engines that failed in flight. It gives the organization that owns the vintage World War II aircraft about $40,000 total. The group is raising the money to rebuild the engine that was lost while the aircraft was flying into Hutchinson for an air show back in May. The plane has been at the airport ever since.

The $40,000 is still only about half of what is needed to replace the engine and get the Invader back in the air.
