Jail Logo HUTCHINSON, Kan. — County Commissioner Dan Deming’s proposal for a new logo for the county jail being built on the southeast side of the city met with some skepticism Tuesday. The logo which would read, “Reno County Jail,” then underneath would be smaller print with the line, “Jail And Improving Lives.” Deming wants the sign to reflect some of the programs that will be available to inmates for example, expanded mental health treatment, and 50 beds reserved for work release which the current jail doesn’t offer. He says why not make it as attractive as possible and says the cost for the signage is not unreasonable, costing around $4,800. But, Commissioner Brad Dillon indicated he wanted simple lettering which says “Reno County Jail.” He believes keeping it simple is the way they should go, however he suggested they get the Reno County Jail Committee involved and get their input. The 12 member committee worked to come up with the concept and what should be included in the new jail. Commission Chair James Schlickau seemed to agree with that. So any logo for the new jail is on hold for the time being. Meanwhile, the commissioners, the jail committee and city officials will get to tour what has been done with the jail so far. That will happen on Sept. 17, at 5 p.m.
