HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council will meet for another workshop on the 2015 fiscal budget.
The Council is looking to trim what is a proposed 2.565 mill increase in the budget for next year. “I think we want to minimize the mill levy increase…..to 1.5 mills,” John Deardoff, Hutchinson City Manager, said. The council is looking at several areas to trim the numbers, including some capital outlay funds. Deardoff said that the cuts do not include any street maintenance money, nor does it propose any deferred purchases on equipment. Deardoff said he’s confident that the Council will find some money to trim from the budget without hurting services or forcing cuts in employment.
Tomorrow’s study session begins at 8 a.m. at the city offices.
