HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A man serving more than 20 years in prison for crimes in Shawnee County has been bound over for trial in Reno County District Court.
Mark Lucas faces charges of aggravated escape after he walked out an unlocked gate of the Hutchinson Correctional Facility’s minimum security unit in August of last year. He eventually ended up in Topeka where he was captured by KDOC officials. Lucas is serving a sentences for five different crimes involving aggravated burglary and theft in 1994.
His earliest release date is March of 2023 but a conviction for the escape will add more to that sentence.
