HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Their interest in Alstom’s wind division has gone by the wayside, but Siemens along Mitsubishi Heavy industries upped the ante for the rest of the French company’s energy platform.
The companies put forward a simplified deal structure in which MHI would take a straightforward 40% stake in Alstoms combined system, grid and hydro business. Siemens has increased its offer for Alstoms gas business to 4.3 billion euro. But the wind business, which is a major competitor for Siemens, would remain wholly under Alstom’s control. The revised offer came on the heals of a second offer from GE who wants to purchase the French company for 13.5 billion dollars.
GE says their offer is good through June 23rd.
