SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan —Whether it was too close to the last event, or whether the word just didn’t get out, the South Hutchinson Police reported that their semi-annual drug take back day did not produce as big of number as the last one.
According to police the department took in 45 pounds of unused medications. That compares to the more than 120 pounds during the last event which was the first held in Reno County as part of the National Drug Take Back day. Police say it could have been the fact that the last one was so big that few had anything to drop off or that the word just didn’t get out.
The low numbers have not changed the departments mind about doing the event. The next drug take back day is set for October.
