A 48-year-old man has been formally charged with two counts of rape, aggravated criminal sodomy and aggravated battery.
Those charges were read to Woodson Crable while appearing before Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen Wednesday morning.
Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell then had the judge to read an updated affidavit in the case and then asked that the 100-hundred thousand dollar bond be increased to 250-thousand dollars. He cited the nature of the crimes charged and the belief that Crable is a danger to the community. Crable who’s free argued that he has obeyed everything asked of him since he bonded out and requested the bond stay the same. Judge McEwen didn’t increase the bond, but did order that he have a GPS device attached to him and had him taken to jail till that could be arranged.
The case starts April 9, with the Reno County Sheriff’s Officers were dispatched to the report of a disturbance in Nickerson. When they arrived, they made contact with the victim who reported that she had been battered by Crable. She says Crable forced her into the backseat of his vehicle to take her to Hutchinson. He eventually left the residence and a deputy located him where he was then taken into custody.
The victim also alleged that she has been battered and sexually assaulted by Crable at a location here in Hutchinson.
Crable will be back in court as part of a waiver status docket on May 20.
