A 52-year-old Hutchinson woman with a substantial criminal past is in more trouble here in Reno County after she was stopped by a Reno County Sheriff’s Deputy on Monday.
Sheila Davison is charged with distribution of methamphetamine, no tax stamp and driving on a suspended license.
She was stopped by Reno County Sheriff Deputy in the 1400 block of North Main around 12:45 a-m, Monday morning. The deputy knew she had a suspended license and also a warrant for her arrest. After her arrest, a search was done on her purse and according to Drug Unit Detective Jeremy Hedges, they found three zip-lock bags that contained a crystal substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine. The total weight allegedly came to 22.2 grams. They also allegedly found in a zipper bag over 900-dollars in cash and suspected owe sheets.
In court she asked for a reduction of the 11-thousand, 250-dollar bond. She told Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen that she know she is probably headed to prison and wanted time to take care of other matters, but Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson told the court that she faces a community corrections violation for a flee and elude conviction, plus has numerous other convictions. He thought the bond was more then reasonable considering if convicted on the new charges she could face a sentence of between 92 and 144 months in prison. Judge McEwen denied the request for a bond reduction and in fact, raised the bond to 20-thousand dollars.
In addition to the flee and elude conviction here in Reno County, she also has a previous drug conviction here as well as a number of convictions involving drugs in McPherson County.
Davison will be back in court on the new charges on April 16, in front of Judge Joe McCarville as part of a waiver-status docket.
