It was a mixed result again this year with the annual County Health Rankings and Road maps report came out Wednesday from Kansas Health Institute.
Over all, Reno County came in with a ranking of 54th, out of 98 counties reporting when it come to health and 47th, out of 98 when it comes to length of life. It shows that Reno County continues to be near the middle when it comes to over all health.
The county was at the bottom half of the study when it comes to social and economic factors that effect education and employment. The county also ranked in the bottom half when it comes to the county’s physical environment including housing issues, drinking water violations and air quality. The county ranked 73 out of 98 in that category.
While some of these numbers continue to fall under the average, the amount of clinical care continued to be the county’s strong point. The study showed Reno County ranked 12th, in the state.
According to the 2014 rankings, the five healthiest counties in the state was led by Johnson County, followed by Riley, Pottawatomie, Wabaunsee and Stevens as the top five.
The counties with the lowest rankings was Woodson, Elk, Wyandotte, Chatauqua and Decatur.
