A Hutchinson man appeared via-video Tuesday morning from the Reno County Jail for two cases including one where he’s charged with breaking into two local churches.
Richard Grissom Jr., is charged with burglary of the First Church of God at 704 North Jefferson on December 27, 2013, and also Riverside Baptist Church at 114 East 8th. He apparently didn’t get much in either incident. According to the complaint, he allegedly stole 26-dollars from Riverside Baptist Church resulting in a misdemeanor charge of theft. He’s also charged with criminal damage to property for damaging two windows at Riverside Church and one at First Church of God.
Other crimes include three counts auto burglary where in one case he allegedly stole a Remington Shotgun, an I-pod and flashlight. In another, he allegedly stole a watch and in the third, another I-pod. These crimes allegedly occurring on December 13, December 21 and December 22, 2013.
Grissom is also charged with possession of marijuana, possession of personal use paraphernalia, and criminal use of a weapon, in this case a handgun. These crimes occurring on December 27.
Then in a separate case, Grissom is charged with battery of a law enforcement officer, “in this case” a juvenile corrections officer. This allegedly occurring at the Bob Johnson Youth Shelter on December 31, 2013.
Bond for the two case set at 15-thousand dollars each and they were left the same by Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen Tuesday morning.
Grissom’s cases will now be placed on a waiver-status docket on April 2.
