Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson says they now have an address for the new Reno County Correctional Facility. It will be located at 1800 S. Severance.
He says they currently have electricity for the job site. Construction equipment is moving on the site at Blanchard and Severance. A fence will be installed Tuesday and a grader will start scrapping. The office trailer and tool trailer were brought on site Monday.
Voters approved a half cent sales tax to build the jail and also move some county offices to what is currently the Reno County Jail Annex.
Plans also include adding a new entrance to the courthouse and doing some improvements to the Law Enforcement Center.
Henderson says they expect to break ground for the new 250-bed jail this Friday or next Monday with no formal ceremony planned.
