A 18-year-old Hutchinson man arrested for a number of burglary cases including one where he and another man allegedly stole a large stash of weapons was denied a bond reduction while in court Monday afternoon.
Joshua Cellers along with 19-year-old Brandon Hudson are both charged with aggravated burglary, felony theft and criminal damage to property in one of three cases against Cellers. His bond is set at 65-thousand dollars.
Judge Joe McCarville denied the bond reduction in part because of the stash of weapons taken, but also because the possible mental issues of Cellers. The judge suggested that he could be a danger because of threatening to shoot people. Standing at nearly 7-foot, Cellers would be a hard individual to stop.
The two men allegedly used a credit card to pick a lock to an attached garage at a home on Cone Street. They allegedly took as many as 5-rifles and 9-handguns. The burglary apparently occurring while the occupant of the residence was at home, back on February 26.
Cellers has two other cases pending where he’s charged with burglary of a dwelling and theft of a firearm in a case from January 31. This occurring at a home in the 600 block of Town & Country.
The third case includes charges of non-residential burglary, criminal damage to property and misdemeanor theft. In this case, he is alleged to broken in to the Extreme Crossfire Paintball at 5 North Mohawk Road, and the stealing a golf cart. These crimes occurring back on January 19.
He should be in court again in the near future on all three cases as part of the next waiver-status docket.
