You’ve heard is talk a lot about the legislature considering the elimination of a mortgage registration fee, the county reported a decline of how much money was collected from that fee or tax last month.
According to the numbers, the county only collected 39-thousand, 261-dollars during the month of February and only 9-thousand, 359-dollars for a recording fee. That’s considerably less then what was collected in January of this year and also for the same period last year.
In January, the county collected 57-thousand, 812-dollars for the Mortgage Registration tax and 10-thousand, 345-dollars for the recording fee. That means the county took in over 19-thousand, 500 dollars less last month then in January.
Last year in February, the county had collected 52-thousand 972-dollars for the mortgage registration tax and 16-thousand, 493-dollars for the recording fee for a total of 69-thousand, 465-dollars.
For the year 2013, the county collected 881-thousand, 80-dollars.
