Suspect In Stabbing Case Again Refuses to Appear In Court

For a second day in a row, a 46-year-old Hutchinson man arrested Tuesday evening on charges of aggravated battery and aggravated assault refused to appear before Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen. The judge stating that they will try again Friday morning for Richard Manwarren Sr. on Friday.

He has to appear at some point with Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson indicating that they would probably have formal charges filed by Monday.

The case started around 9:40 p-m, Tuesday when Hutchinson Police were dispatched to 314 Grandview for a report of a disturbance. They found 37-year-old Randy Dowers suffering from a single stab wound and multiple cuts to his hands. 49-year-old Kimberly Hopper alleges that she has been threatened with a knife by Manwarren during the same incident.

Dowers was treated at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for his wounds. Manwarren was taken to jail with a bond set at 10-thousand dollars.

Manwarren is no stranger to the law having convictions for felony flee and elude, criminal deprivation of property and burglary. Those cases going back to 2005, and 1988.
