The trial for one of the six men accused of being involved with the stabbing and beating of a Hutchinson man last year is getting underway in Reno County District Court.

Troy Bell is charged of attempted first degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated burglary.

The state started their case with officer testimony over the investigation of the incident. That included Hutchinson Police Detective Dustin Loepp. He prepared some sketches of the crime scene and legends of the layout of both the entire home and then the living room where evidence related to crimes were found. Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell also showed the jury pictures of the main crime scene, the living room of the home where the attack of Jeffrey Payne took place. That included graphic photos of the blood from the victim.

The attack on Payne took place back on February 18, 2013, when the six men allegedly broke into his home and physically attacked and stabbed him numerous times in the leg and torso. This at a home at 633 East 4th.

Others accused of being involved in the attack include John Cantu, Jordon and Joseph LeShore Sean Arevalo-Mendoza and Desmund Cantu.

Desmund Cantu has already been convicted and is serving 7-years, while Joseph LeShore was recently allowed to withdraw his plea to attempted 2nd degree murder and will now face trial on a charge of attempted 1st degree murder as well as other charges.

The others cases are all pending and the trial.

The trial for Troy Bell continues Tuesday in District Court.
