After the state dropped the major counts against a 29-year-old Hutchinson man, he’ll be sentenced on a single count of possession of marijuana.
Jason Peterson was arrested back in August of last year on other charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, in this case, a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, “a pipe” and criminal damage to property. All of those charges were dropped by the state while he was convicted of the marijuana charge.
It was around 9:15 a-m, on August 14, when 35-year-old Michael A. Brisco reported that Peterson attempted to strike him with his vehicle. This occurring in the parking lot of an abandoned furniture store at 8th & Plum, not far from where Brisco lives
Peterson left the scene and was not located by police. Later, he was spotted by two Hutchinson Police Officers showing up for a municipal court case. They attempted to detain him over a warrant and he at first refused to take his hands out his pockets. When he did, a pipe allegedly fell to the ground which allegedly had marijuana residue inside.
Peterson is no stranger to law enforcement with numerous convictions for burglary, theft, criminal damage, battery against a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery, drugs, criminal possession of a firearm and flee and elude.
Brisco as you may know was bound over for trial this week for the killing of an Illinois man, Sem Adrien. He is scheduled to be arraigned in the murder case Monday.
