Two Hutchinson area men made first appearances after their arrest for aggravated burglary of a Hutchinson home where several weapons were allegedly taken.
18-year-old Joshua Cellers and 19-year-old Brandon Hudson were arrested for aggravated burglary, theft and criminal damage to property. In addition, Cellers was charged in a separate case for making a criminal threat against those who may have tipped police off to the burglary.
District Attorney Keith Schroeder says they used a credit card to pick a lock to an attached garage at a home on Cone Street. They alleged took as many as 5-rifles and several handguns. The burglary apparently occurring while the occupant of the residence was at home. This allegedly occurring on February 26.
In court Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen told the two men of the potential charges. They actually appeared before him because the video to the jail didn’t seem to be working.
Both were given high bonds, Sellers has two bonds, one for 6-thousand, 500-dollars for the burglary case and 15-thousand for the criminal threat. But, according to the Reno County Jail Logs, his total bond is 58-thousand dollars. Hudson’s bond was set at 11-thousand, 750-dollars. He is now free on that bond.
Both will be back in court Wednesday for a status hearing.
