Third Suspect In Westphal Burglary Enters Pleas To Two Charges

The third of three suspects in the burglary and theft of Westphal Jewelers in Hutchinson who was scheduled for trial next week entered “guilty” pleas to two of the four charges against him, while the state dropped the other two.

Kenya Breakfield entered pleas to burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary while the state dropped the other two charges of felony theft and felony criminal damage.

He’ll be sentenced on March 28, and both sides will be able to argue disposition in the case.

The other two suspects in the case have already been sentenced. 38-year-old Derrick Glover, entered the plea in the case also in front of Judge Trish Rose to burglary, felony theft, criminal damage to property and conspiracy to commit burglary. He was sentenced to a total of 4 and a half years in prison.

44-year old Francis Johnson was convicted of all four charges against him and District Judge Joe McCarville sentenced him to 29-months in prison.

All three have now been convicted of driving a stolen vehicle through the front entry way Westphal Jewelers back on January 12, 2013 and stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise.

It caused substantial damage to the building. The owner of the building, Greg Payton was present when Breakfield entered the plea Wednesday.
