Hutchinson Community College and Central Bank and Trust are presenting a highly-respected banking expert at the Spring 2014 Entrepreneurs Forum, Thursday, February 27. The forum is set for 7:15 p-m in the Justice Theater of the Shears Technology Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
Darrel Miller, a Senior Vice President at Central Bank and Trust in Hutchinson will share his more than 20-years of banking experience with forum attendees and provide insight into the loan review process and how small businesses should apply for loans.
Miller started his career in 1990, beginning as a cash vault teller for Hutchinson National Bank. Miller was tasked with counting and shipping cash to banks in western Kansas. After a year at HNB, Miller moved up to consumer loan officer, assisting with the underwriting of consumer car loans.
Miller’s rise through the banking industry mirrored the mergers and acquisitions that were common in the banking industry in the last decade. Within five years of becoming a loan officer, Miller worked for five different banking companies, all while remaining in the exact same building. When the bank was about to undergo a sixth merger with Bank of America in 1997, Miller left and moved to Central Bank and Trust.
In 2002, Miller was promoted to Senior Vice President at CBT, and focuses primarily on commercial and business loans, with speciality in underwriting loans and managing credit relationships.
Miller has been an active civic member in Hutchinson, and has served on numerous boards throughout Hutchinson and Reno County.
HCC Business Management and Entrepreneurship program hosts an Entrepreneurs Forum every fall and spring semester at the main campus in Hutchinson. The event is free and open to the public.
