The Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce along with the Downtown Hutchinson Revitalization Partnership will host the 3rd Annual Shamwalk in on Saturday, March 15th. The previous two years events have brought hundreds of participants to shop, and dine in Downtown Hutchinson.

Shamwalk is a socializing and networking opportunity for community members, and will encourage participants to patronize several downtown restaurants.

“We’re looking for this event to grow more each year. It’s a great day for downtown businesses, and a fun day for participants,” Lori Webb, Director of Sales and Membership for the Chamber said.

This year’s event will feature a kick-off party held at Memorial Hall, 101 S. Walnut, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Snacks and drinks will be provided and a prize will be awarded to the participant with the best Saint Patrick’s Day themed accessories.

Participants will be encouraged to stop in at all participating locations between 3:00-6:00 p.m. There are several opportunities to win prizes throughout the day, and many participating locations will offer food and drink specials.

Registration is $20 at www.hutchchamber.com, and includes an official 2014 Shamwalk t-shirt, admission to the kick-off event, and a chance to win prizes. Participants may also register in person at the Chamber, 117 N. Walnut. The deadline to be guaranteed a t-shirt is March 5th. Registration will increase to $25 on March 6th.

This event is the first in a series of downtown pub crawl events organized by the Downtown Hutchinson Revitalization Partnership. The next event will be held Saturday, June 21st and will be a Smallville theme, a take on Clark Kent’s (as known as Superman) hometown. On August 2nd, there will be a blues themed event, and on Nov. 1st a Halloween themed pub crawl.
