A 38-year-old man already serving time for convictions out of Shawnee County now faces some serious charges here in Reno County.
At some point Shane Vobach was free here in Reno County on parole and was allegedly caught with items consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine. The alleged crimes occurring back on February 27th.
The state has charged him with manufacture of methamphetamine, or in the alternative attempt to manufacture meth, possession of lithium metal, possession of anhydrous ammonia and possession of drug paraphernalia all with the intent to manufacture meth.
He was apparently on parole and Ed Mora with the local parole office went to check on him at a home in the 600 block of East A and that’s when the meth lab was discovered. Drug unit detectives were called in to work the lab.
Vobach is currently serving time for robbery, misdemeanor battery, criminal threat and cruelty to animals. But, he also has previous convictions for drugs and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. All of the convictions are out of Shawnee and Johnson counties.
He was in court Wednesday morning where he was told the bond is 50-thousand dollars and he already requested a copy of the discovery or any evidence the state has gathered in the case. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen told him that would be coming through his attorney with the Regional Public Defenders Office.
His case now moves to a waiver-status docket on July 10, in front of Judge Joe McCarville.
