A 21-year-old Hutchinson man convicted of aggravated endangerment of a child in one case and attempted criminal threat in the another and given 12-months community corrections was in court on a community corrections violation.
William Hickey had been given an 18-month underlying sentence in the case and he stipulated to violating his corrections by using methamphetamine. However, that was sometime back and has been clean since that time. His corrections officer recommended he serve 6-days in the county jail to be served over three weekends. Judge Tim Chambers granted the request for the 6-day sanction but warned Hickey he’s on a short leash from going to prison.
It was back on June 13, 2013, when William Hickey was alleged to have knowingly tortured or cruelly beat a 1-year-old child. The other theory alleged that he inflicted cruel and inhumane corporal punishment on the 1-year-old. This after the child sustained injuries to her face and also her bottom. The state contends that this was no accident, but Hickey contends that he opened a door that tends to stick and the door hit the child.
In the other case he had been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, for threatening Darrell Hickey with a knife. He was also charged with criminal threat for the same incident. That occurring back on May 17, 2012.
But, he entered a plea agreement with the state amending the compliant. That made the charges he entered a plea to presumptive probation.
Judge Chambers also ordered he be placed on community corrections for the original term. This was his first violation of his corrections.
