The MOKAN Take Charge Challenge will engage businesses from four different Kansas and Missouri cities in an exciting competition designed to impact energy efficiency with participants through education, engagement and results.
The MOKAN Take Charge Challenge will run from August 1, 2013 through January 31, 2014, will include Hutchinson, Hays, and Kansas City. It will also include the Missouri city of Warrensburg.
Already the challenge communities have gained key supporters by partnering with utility companies in their communities. Hutchinson with Westar Energy, Hays with Midwest Energy and Kansas City with Kansas City Board of Public Utilities, and Warrensburg with Kansas City Power and Light.
The communities are forming Leadership Teams and will have several training and strategy meetings in preparation for the August 1 challenge launch.
The challenge uses the spirit of competition to drive participation and success. Each participating business has the opportunity to win a local prize, provided by their utility company. At the same time, the businesses within each city will compete against those in other cities for a grand prize of $10,000. The grand prize, provided by Climate + Energy Project, will be used for a community energy efficiency projects selected by the winning community.
