An 18-year-old Hutchinson Community College student arrested early Monday morning managed to make a court appearance in front of Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen.
Abraham Freeman who is from Georgia was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to sell within a thousand feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He asked for a reduction of his bond saying he’s scheduled to fly home to Georgia on Wednesday. Judge McEwen called that unfortunate, but says because of the amount of drugs, 24.4-grams, he wouldn’t reduce the 12-thousand 500-dollar bond.
Freeman was arrested in his dorm room at the college for having the drugs, around 2:30 a-m, Monday morning.
He could be back in court as early as Wednesday for another appearance, once the state files formal charges.
