Harvey County Sheriff officials received information of a scam going around their county.
Residents report that they are getting calls from someone who claims to be from the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office telling them they have an outstanding warrant. In order to avoid having the sheriff show up at their house and being arrested, the caller tries to get the potential victim to send money to take care of the warrant.
Sheriff officials want residents to know that they do not collect money on warrants over the phone or make calls to threaten people. This is another scam to try to get residents hard earned money.
If you should get a call like this, whether in Harvey County or even here in Reno County. Contact law enforcement.
