Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System and the K-State Research & Extension-Reno County office will co-sponsor an informational meeting on the Affordable Care Act scheduled for 5:30 p.m. December 9 in the Pavilion, located directly east of the hospital.
Dr. Roberta Riportella, Kansas Health Foundation Professor of Community Health, will give an overview of the Affordable Care Act followed by a question and answer session with the audience.
Kevin Miller, F.A.C.H.E., President and CEO of Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, said the Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obama Care”, has major ramifications for healthcare facilities throughout the country, as well as the statewide rural constituency served by K-State Research & Extension-Reno County.
“The rollout of the Affordable Care Act has been anything but smooth with the end result being chaos and confusion on the part of consumers and healthcare facilities,” Miller said. “It is our hope that the meeting will clear up any misconceptions the public may have regarding this complicated law and to provide pointers on how individuals may enroll for health insurance coverage.”
Attendees are encouraged, but not required, to RSVP by calling the Reno County Extension office at 620-662-2371.
