Hutchinson Community College will be in search of a new President.
The HCC Board of Trustees accepted the retirement of Dr. Edward E. Berger, President of Hutchinson Community College during Thursday Board meeting. Berger issued a statement announcing his retirement:
“It is my intention to retire as President of Hutchinson Community College, July 1, 2014. It has been my distinct pleasure to have been a part of Kansas Community Colleges since 1969, first at Seward County Community College until April 1981, and then Hutchinson Community College from 1981 to 1991, first as Dean of Continuing Education, and from 1991 to present as President of Hutchinson Community College.
The opportunity to see students grow, change, improve and discover their potential has been incredibly rewarding. A Board of Trustees, faculty, administration, and staff that has a commitment to being student-centered makes it possible for student growth to be achieved.
It has been my honor to work for an outstanding Board of Trustees that is truly the core to the success of any college. To be a part of a community that recognizes, values, and supports Hutchinson Community College so enthusiastically is invaluable and admired statewide. The commitment of what is recognized as the finest senior leadership team in Kansas has made it possible to meet the expectations of the Board of Trustees and community.
For 85 years, Hutchinson Community College has provided students physical and economic access to quality higher education. I am sure that the True Blue Tradition of Excellence will be a part of Reno County, Kansas, and the nation for the next 85 years.
Thanks again to everyone who so enthusiastically supports the mission of this great College.”
