A 48-year-old Hutchinson man arrested for aggravated assault was in court Wednesday morning for a first appearance on the charges.
John Moyers is alleged to have threatened 19-year-old Brett Herald with a knife during an altercation in the 700 block of North Main. This occurring around 9:30 p-m, Tuesday night.
In court, Moyers was told of the potential charge and asked for a reduction in bond. But, Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson told the court of his past criminal history which includes a burglary conviction in McPherson County in 2007, and then older convictions for criminal damage to property and violation of a protective order in 1998. He was also convicted of aggravated battery in 1999.
Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen denied the bond reduction request and left the bond at 5-thousand dollars.
He’ll be back in court next Wednesday for a status hearing.
