The state was expected to file formal charges Friday against a Hutchinson man accused of shooting an Illinois man Monday evening here in Hutchinson. That complaint will include two additional charges.
Micheal Brisco already faces charges of 1st degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm. Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton says he will add two additional counts including possession of methamphetamine and aggravated intimidation of a witness.
He also asked the court to increase the bond for Brisco to 1-million dollars calling him an “extreme danger” to the community. But, local attorney Sam Kepfield who was representing Brisco for the hearing stated that a 1-million dollar bond is a bit extreme and that his client won’t be able to post the bond as is. The bond currently sits at 501-thousand, 500-dollars.
The 36-year-old Brisco was arrested around 7:30 p-m, Wednesday evening for the killing of 26-year-old Sem Adrien on Monday. Adrien was found suffering a gunshot wound in a small parking lot at 8th & Plum. He was taken to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center where he was then pronounced dead.
As we have been telling you, Brisco is no stranger to the law having served time for drugs with a conviction in 2002 and another conviction in 2003. Other convictions include aggravated battery and aggravated robbery for cases in Shawnee County.
Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen set a status hearing in the case for next Wednesday. During that hearing, Brisco is expected to read the formal charges and it will also determine his next court appearance.
