A 41-year-old Sylvia Man was taken to a Wichita hospital early Friday morning after a one vehicle accident in the county. The driver was identified as Phuong The Pham.
The crash was reported about 7:40 a-m, Friday morning when Reno County Sheriff deputies were sent to the area of 4th and Netherland Rd.
The accident scene was approximately 3/4 of a mile north of the intersection and a passerby saw the vehicle out in a field that appeared to have been involved in a wreck. They subsequently found Pham in the ditch in close proximity to the car. He appeared to be suffering from multiple injuries from the accident, however he was conscience and able to communicate with deputies.
It appears the accident occurred overnight and it’s unknown at this time when the actual accident occurred.
Pham was northbound on Netherland Rd., when his vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons. It appears he made several attempts to correct, but each correction led to a more significant loss of control. After he swerved to each side of the road, his vehicle then swerved to the left a second time, went off the roadway and rolled. It’s believed Pham was ejected from the vehicle during the roll and he came to rest in the location where he was discovered.
Speed may have been a factor in the accident, but according to the sheriff officials, It doesn’t appear that alcohol played a role.
The accident is still under investigation.
