HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A local woman who allegedly caused a disturbance at a local re-hap facility is now facing some fairly serious charges.
Police were called about the disturbance around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon where 35-year-old Amber Griffith was apparently yelling at staff and throwing things in that facility. She eventually left and was spotted walking in the 2600 block of North Severance. Officers could tell she was intoxicated and attempted to take her into custody. She started to walk away and struck an officer on his arm, then kicked another. They allegedly had to forcibly place her inside a police vehicle. She remained defiant even when arriving at the Reno County Correctional Facility where she allegedly kept struggling with officers and is alleged to have kicked an officer there.
Potential charges include two counts of battery of a police officer, battery of a jail officer, felony interference and public intoxication.
Bond in the case was set at $5,100 and she should be back in court next week for the formal reading of charges.
