Only two agenda items on the Reno County Commission agenda led to a pretty short meeting Tuesday morning.
Commissioners approved a recommendation for 4-way stop at the intersection of Broadacres and West 6th near South Hutchinson. The decision coming after a traffic investigation by BG Consultants. The traffic study was requested by Oneok Partners following construction of a new building on the southwest corner of the intersection. Although there haven’t been many accidents at that location, the county wants to be proactive as opposed to reactive.
The county also endorsed the Reno County Health Departments request to apply for a grant from the Hutchinson Community Foundation for a quality improvement project within the Health Department building.
Health Department Director Julia Hulsey says they want to do some renovations of the facility to make it more child friendly, as well as more warm and welcoming. She says this will also make it safer for the kids.
The grant is for 15-thousand, 667-dollars with a county match of 17-thousand, 230-dollars. If approved says Hulsey, they would begin the renovation early next year.
