HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The report of suspicious activity landed a 32-year-old Hutchinson man in jail on drug charges Monday.

Police responded to a local car wash in the 1600 block of East 30th on the report of a man sleeping in his car in one of the stalls.

When they arrived they looked inside and saw Marcus Hill asleep and next to him was what appeared to be a bag with crystal looking rocks they believed to be crystal meth. They also allegedly found some prescription drugs. Once awaken, he allegedly tried to conceal the bag from officers. They also allegedly located some marijuana.

Charges include possession of methamphetamine, possession of a narcotic and depressants, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony interference with law enforcement.

In court, he told the judge that it was probably a good thing he was taken to jail, but then proceeded to try to get a bond reduction saying he wanted to go back to work and also get treatment.

Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen denied the request after the state objected to any reduction.

Hill is no stranger to law enforcement having convictions for stalking, violation of a protective order, battery, theft and possession of drugs.

He’ll be back in court on March 22, for the formal reading of charges.
