MEDORA, Kan. – At around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to Medora Rd and old K-61 for an injury accident.
A vehicle driven by Dameitrik Morris of Emporia was traveling northbound on old K-61. When he arrived at 85th, he didn’t see the stop sign and struck a vehicle headed eastbound on 85th on the passenger side. The Mountaineer was driven by Debra Ontjes of Hutchinson. Her vehicle rolled several times into the Northeast ditch coming to rest just before the railroad tracks. The other vehicle came to rest in the westbound lane of 85th Avenue.
Ontjes was transported by EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center then airlifted to Via Christie St Francis in Wichita where she is listed in fair condition. Morris and his passenger Tyrone Clark were transported by EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for unknown injuries.
All three occupants reported wearing their seat-belts and airbags were deployed in both vehicles according to the Reno County Sheriff’s Office.
