HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The latest unemployment numbers show some good news heading into the Christmas Holiday with the rate in both Hutchinson and Reno County showing a drop in November.
According to the latest numbers from the Kansas Department of Labor, the rate in Hutchinson now sits at 4 percent, down from 4.5 percent in October. Reno County’s rate also dropped from 4.1 percent in October to 3.8 percent in November. Those rates for last month were also lower than November of last year.
There were 1,180 residents of the county looking for work last month, but as always, most of those looking were in the city of Hutchinson.
The surrounding counties either saw slight decreases with their rates or stayed the same. McPherson County had the lowest rate of any of the counties at 2.6 percent.
The state’s November seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.0 percent, down from 4.1 percent in October and decreased from 4.2 percent in November 2014.
