HUTCHINSON, Kan. — One of two men arrested for allegedly cultivating mushrooms, distributing mushrooms and conspiracy was bound over for trial this morning by Judge Joe McCarville.
Nineteen-year-old Carlyeon Moore was present with his attorney where Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton presented evidence of his involvement. Moore and Jason Wineinger are accused of operating a mushroom growing operation inside a north side business.
It was back on March 18 when Hutchinson police served a search warrant at the business at 2534 N. Main. They found the mushroom growing operation. They also found a dog locked in a bathroom with no food and water and living in its own waste. Animal Control was called in and removed the animal.
Wineinger also appeared and waived his right to a preliminary hearing and entered a “not guilty” plea. That means that plea negotiations will continue between him and the state.
That’s not the case with Moore. Stanton indicated that he would agree to negotiate with him also if he waived the preliminary hearing, but Moore declined, meaning with him being bound over, his case will go to trial.
