A SLOW MOVING STORM SYSTEM OVER THE SOUTHWESTERN UNITED STATES WILL BRING A TRANSITION FROM WIDESPREAD RAINFALL…TO A MIX OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN…SLEET AND SNOW IN PORTIONS OF
CENTRAL AND SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS INTO THE FLINT HILLS LATE THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT. LIGHT ICE ACCUMULATIONS ARE LIKELY IN THOSE AREAS.

MARION…NEWTON…KINGMAN…WICHITA…ANTHONY…HARPER AND ATTICA

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WICHITA HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THURSDAY TO 6 AM
CST SATURDAY.

TIMING…BEGINNING THURSDAY NIGHT…AND PERSISTING THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT.

MAIN IMPACT…RAIN IS EXPECTED TO TRANSITION TO A MIXTURE OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN…SLEET…AND SNOW ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS INTO THE FLINT HILLS. LIGHT ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF 0.1 TO 0.2 INCH ARE POSSIBLE ON UNTREATED ROADWAYS…ELEVATED SURFACES…TREES AND POWERLINES. SNOW OR SLEET ACCUMULATIONS OF 0.5 INCH OR LESS ARE EXPECTED IN CENTRAL KANSAS.

OTHER IMPACTS…NORTH WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH MAY COMBINE WITH ICING ON TREES AND POWERLINES…RESULTING IN POSSIBLE SPORADIC POWER OUTAGES.
