HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The latest unemployment numbers released Friday from the Kansas Department of Labor show the rates for both Hutchinson and Reno County rose slightly in October.
The latest number for Hutchinson is at 4.5 percent, up from 4.1 percent in September. That number is also higher than in October of last year when the rate was 4.3 percent.
The number for Reno County rose in October, the county’s number sits at 4.2 percent, up from 3.9 in September. Just like the city, the rate for October is higher than last year at the same time when the number was 4 percent.
There were 1,304 resident in the county looking for work last month with 890 of those Hutchinson residents.
The surrounding counties fared better, either seeing no change or dropping some last month from where they were in September.
The state’s October seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.1 percent, down from 4.4 percent in September and decreased from 4.2 percent in October 2014.
